How to become a IDDRC Investigator?


The IDDRC at BCM supports the research of BCM investigators through the IDDRC Cores which concentrate expertise being accessible to investigators who would otherwise have to find ways to import these technologies and develop these skills in their own labs (See “About us” and “Cores”). The IDDRC is thus an impressive venue for facilitating research in a cost-efficient way.

If you want to JOIN the group of BCM-IDDRC investigators and get privileged access to the BCM-IDDRC cores, you need to write* the BCM-IDDRC Director, Dr. Zoghbi with the following:

  • Title of project
  • Source of support
  • Period of support
  • Brief description of project
  • Relevance of the project to the IDDRC mission
  • Core Units to be accessed

Investigator guidelines

In order to REMAIN a IDDRC investigator:

  • You must acknowledge the NIH grant for the BCM IDDRC P30HD024064 as well as the cores you used for your research in all your new related publications: include an acknowledgment of NIH grant support and disclaimer such as “The project described was supported by Award Number P30HD024064 from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute Of Child Health & Human Development. The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute Of Child Health & Human Development or the National Institutes of Health.”
  • Funding for your project(s) need to be active. If not, the project(s) will no longer be considered a IDDRC related project and you will be refused access to the IDDRC cores for this project or you will be charged the regular price the core usually applies
  • If your project(s) is ending and you want to remain a IDDRC investigator, please proceed as described above to get the IDDRC Director approval for new project(s)
Note: Each year, at the time of the IDDRC progress report, you will be asked for the following:
  - To update information about your project(s)
- A list of related publications during the past year
- A list of related collaborations outside Baylor (if any)
- A few words relating any exciting research in the past year that occurred with your research project(s)
